The organising of this event is being led by ClareE with help from ClareK, Sarah, Mark, Paul, Beryl and ClareE’s family (have I missed anyone out?)

However, further offers of help before the day and/or at the event are always welcome, so please add them below.

Additionally, anyone who could run another stall and sell their goods for TH funds to help us break even on the event and maybe build up our petty cash, please make yourself known!

Green Fair : Saturday September 12th 12.00 – 4.00 pm.

This year, our three themes are using the abundance of nature, avoiding waste, and using local sources. Do come and join us. Make a delicious lunch from our food stalls; stock up on fresh produce grown in Capel vegetable gardens; fill your store-cupboard with homemade preserves, jams and chutneys; quench your thirst with Ringden apple and fruit juices.. Children can enjoy special activities, crafts and quizzes, Get a taste of freecycling: bring along objects you no longer want, and in exchange, take away something you need. Learn about raising chickens, composting, energy-saving and the aims of the Dorking Transition Town movement. Buy excellent fair-trade craft items, many made from recycled materials. Be sure to tell us on our grafitti wall what you would like to see happening in our programme over the coming year.

To encourage participation, we are offering

FREE ADMISSION to all who bring goods to donate to our stalls – home-grown fruit, vegetables, plants, jams, chutneys, cakes, and items for the freecycle stall. So….BRING GENEROUSLY..

Permaculture : Wednesday 8th July

Permaculture ( a contraction of permanent + agriculture) seeks to follow practices that do not damage and exhaust the soil, nor to rely on fertilisers and pesticides. It bases its principles on close observation of natural systems, and on studying farming traditions in countries where crops continue to be abundant despite growing year-on-year on the same soil. A speaker from the flourishing permaculture movement in Brighton will talk us through these basic principles and show us how we can apply them to our gardening and vegetable-growing.

Refreshments available. All welcome. Tickets £4.00; members of Capel Goes Green £2.00
